Dear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of Guadalupe,
On this second Sunday of Lent, St. Mark’s Gospel reminds us of the Transfiguration of Jesus. In this Gospel, Jesus takes Peter, James and John mountain climbing. When they reach the top of Mt. Tabor, He was totally transfigured before their eyes. On either side of Jesus was Elijah, the great prophet and Moses who was given the law of God.
The disciples wanted to stay but Jesus reminded them to remember the vision of what they experienced. He wanted them to remember because in a few weeks, Jesus would be on another mountain called Calvary. Will they still believe in Him?
For me, the message of this event reminds me that when things are going well in our life, it is easy to believe but when we are going through difficult times it becomes harder. I truly believe that having Faith doesn’t mean we won’t have difficult times and crosses to carry. But having Faith means that we will have the strength to get through those times and crosses.
During this Lenten Season, may we all grow in a deeper trust in the Lord through our continued prayer, fasting and doing good works.
May we all have a Blessed Week,
Fr. Tony
