Dear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of Guadalupe,
This weekend we end our Winter Novena to St. Jude. I want to especially thank Deacon Jesse Watley and Fr. Jose Lavastida for sharing with us the Power of Prayer. God bless them and their ministry. These past days have been filled with grace and blessings.
As we gather this weekend, we listen to the Gospel of Matthew. Jesus tells the crowds how they can find true happiness. He gives us the Beatitudes. As we look at the word, Beatitude, we see it is our ATTITUDE that we must BE to find peace and happiness.
These 8 Beatitudes remind us that being dependent on the Lord, being merciful, being a peacemaker, working for justice are the true ways that lead us to what we truly long for in our life.
Today, many seek happiness in the wrong places. As we turn to the Beatitudes today, let us reflect on our own Attitude. How does my attitude affect my peace and happiness? Let us look to the Lord for He shows us the way.
Have a Blessed Week,
Fr. Tony
Blessing of the Throats Friday February 3 after the 7am and Noon Mass We remember St. Blaise on his feast day by taking two candles, crossing them against the throat, and saying the following prayer: Through the intercession of St. Blaise, bishop and martyr, may God deliver you from ailments of the throat and from every other evil. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
